1. ¡°US Called for Complete Deployment of THAAD by Aug. 30¡±
A THAAD battery consists of six truck-mounted launchers. So far, two launchers have been deployed. Soon after North Korea launched another long-range missile in July, President Moon Jae-in ordered his government to seek the temporary deployment of the other four. Seoul has said a full-on deployment will be decided after an environmental assessment.

2. ROK can revive ties by reversing THAAD decision: China Daily editorial
Despite Beijing's firm opposition to the ROK's deployment of THAAD given its potential damage to the regional strategic balance and China's security interests - as well as the doubts about the system's ability to achieve its stated purpose of defending the ROK should it come under attack from the Democratic People's Republic of Korea - the recently installed ROK President Moon Jae-in ordered a speedy deployment of the controversial missile defense system late last month after the DPRK's most recent missile test¡¦. Twenty-five years ago, the leaders of China and the ROK, guided by their wisdom, and displaying courage and vision, beat all odds and decades of hostility to forge a friendly relationship that has benefited the two nations tremendously and contributed to peace, security and prosperity in the region.
Seoul should display similar wisdom and vision now.
3. Jim Walsh. Should you be worried about North Korea?
What President Trump's impetuous comments remind us is that all nuclear weapons are dangerous, including our own. An American president - not some rogue dictator - could make a mistake, overreact, or bluff themselves into a nuclear war they did not intend. Leaders, all leaders, are human. To err is human, but to err with nuclear weapons would be catastrophic. Perhaps it is time to take the danger posed by nuclear weapons seriously - all nuclear weapons, even our own.

4. Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists. Japan¡¯s response to North Korea
Full-blown normalization between Japan and North Korea would ultimately involve some form of financial settlement to offset the experience of the colonial period, comparable to that reached between Seoul and Tokyo in 1965. By some projections this could deliver a compensation package to the North of anywhere between $5 billion and $10 billion—a sizeable amount for the relatively weak North Korean economy. However far-fetched and risky this might seem, a politically vulnerable Prime Minister Abe might be tempted to capitalize on Japan¡¯s multifaceted relationship with the North to reduce Japan¡¯s defense vulnerabilities and limit its dependency on the United States, while seizing an unexpected diplomatic prize that would dramatically boost his political standing at home. It would be a monumental shift, not quite a Richard Nixon going to China moment, but certainly a bold and radical diplomatic about-face for Japan¡®s conservative prime minister.
In Seoul, President Moon Jae-in is also keen to find an opportunity to talk to the North, and Abe should be exploring opportunities for coordination with his South Korean counterpart to encourage such an approach.
5. Kaesong revival will be first issue pushed if N.K. sanctions ease: minister
South Korea's point man on North Korea said Friday that the now-suspended joint industrial town in Kaesong will be the first issue to be reviewed if Pyongyang halts provocations and international sanctions are eased.

7. Nuclear Apoalypse: Trump and Kim Should No Hold the World Hostage
While the North Koreans require a sixth successful test to put a nuclear warhead on an intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBM), the US had conducting 1,030 such nuclear tests, starting in July 1945.

9.Jon Letman. Postcard From Seongju¡¯s Anti-THAAD Protest
For the last 11 months, residents have held nightly candlelight vigils outside the Seongju County office. Lee Hye-gyeong, Kim Gyeong-sook, and Kim Hyun-sun, three local women, do their best to attend the demonstrations but say it¡¯s not easy to continue month after month.
And they want Americans to understand what the U.S. government is doing. They say that Americans have never experienced a war at home the way Koreans have. ¡°We know exactly what war is like. U.S. citizens have no idea how miserable it is,¡± one of the women says.
They insist they don¡¯t hate Americans, but say people are starting to have anti-American sentiments and if the U.S. continues to pressure South Korea, these sentiments will grow.
Earlier, speaking in English, Seongju resident Moon Ik-hwan expressed a similar message: ¡°The U.S. cannot do this because they are a stronger country. If they keep pressuring THAAD [on us], feelings for the Korea-U.S. alliance will change.¡±
