가난에서 해방되기 위해 대학가는 것이 꿈이었던 대한민국의 한 여성이 그 꿈을 이루기 위해서 첫 여성 용접공(鎔接工)으로 조선공장에 취직 했답니다. 김진숙입니다.
1960년 인천 강화 출생, 1981년 한진중공업 최초 여성 용접공 입사, 1986년 한진중공업 노조 대의원 당선, 1986년 노조활동으로 해고, 1997년 부터 현재까지 민주노총 부산지역본부 지도위원, 2011년 한진중공업의 대규모 해고 반대 309일 동안 85호 크레인 투쟁으로 정부, 회사, 노조와 시민사회의 극적인 합의를 도출한 여성노동운동가 입니다.
대한민국 수출산업에 가장 중요한 조선 공장에서 열악한 노동 환경속에서도 민주노조를 만들고자 하는 염원으로 첫 여성 노조 대의원에 직선으로 당선 되었습니다. 공장에서 민주 노조를 만든 한국 민주주의 역사의 선구자들이 다름아닌 노동자들이었습니다. 그러나 민주 노조 활동을 했다는 이유로 20여세 꽃다운 나이에 해고(解雇)를 당하고 수많은 공권력 탄압에도 불구 평생 노동자들을 위해 활동을 한 그녀. 2011년 309일 동안 한진중공업의 수백명의 불법 해고 저항 초인간적인 85호 크레인 투쟁으로 최근 한국 노동 역사상 드문 "승리"를 이끈 그녀.
309일 동안 크레인에 매달린 그녀를 위해 매일 밥을 해 올렸던 여성 해고 노동자, 황이라님. 그 승리를 가능케 했던 뜨거웠던 2011년 대한민국의 자발적인 시민-노동 연대, 희망버스, 그 찬란한 노동자들의 연대의 우주를 이곳 미국에서 함께 보시지 않겠습니까? 진정한 평등과 진정한 우정은 똑같은 노동을 하는 노동자들이 함께 땀 흘리며 노동을 할 때 가능하다라고 누군가 말했습니다.
온통 전쟁 놀이와 정치 게임으로만 가득찬 언론과 세상에 노동자들, 해고 노동자들, 비정규직 노동자들, 실업자들이 꿈꾸는 찬란한 우주를 함께 상상해 보시지 않겠습니까?
차별 없는 세상, 한 인간으로 태어나 똑 같은 인간으로 대우 받는 세상, 인간이 인간을 지배하지 않는 세상을 가능케 하는 노동자들의 연대(連帶) 바로 그것이 찬란한 우주입니다.
그들의 우주가 바로 우리들의 우주입니다.
