스테픈 커리와 무한도전 농구대결

NBA 역사상 최고슈터로 꼽히는 스테픈 커리(29 골든스테이트 워리어스)가 MBC 인기 버라이어티 쇼 ‘무한도전’에서 펼친 코믹한 농구대결을 USA 투데이와 NBC 등 미 언론들이 동영상과 함께 소개해 눈길을 끌었다.

커리는 최근 역시 NBA에서 활약하는 동생 세스 커리(26 댈러스 매버릭스)와 함께 스폰서 언더아머의 주선으로 한국을 방문, 무한도전에서 깜짝 농구대결을 펼쳤다.

지난 5일 방송된 에피소드에서 커리 형제는 무한도전 멤버 5명과 불리를 감수하는 각종 옵션이 걸린 농구대결로 웃음을 자아냈다.

무한도전 팀의 골을 넣는 골망은 훌라후프 만큼 넓게 만든 반면 커리가 공격할 때는 키가 3m에 달하는 자이언트 풍선인형들이 수비를 하는가 하면 골대를 360도로 빙글빙글 돌아가게 만들어 당혹(當惑)케 했다.

농구대결에 앞서 커리는 무한도전 멤버들의 자료화면을 보고 직업을 추측하기도 했다. 커리는 정준하를 레슬러로 추정했고, 하하는 브레이크 댄서라고 답했으나, 스페셜 게스트로 나온 남주혁은 모델이라고 해 눈썰미를 과시했다.

유재석에 대해 스테픈 커리는 보스, 동생 세스는 선생님같다고 말해 웃음을 안겼다.

Stephen Curry, the greatest shooter in NBA history

Wardell Stephen Curry II (born March 14, 1988) is an American professional basketball player for the Golden State Warriors of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Many players and analysts have called him the greatest shooter in NBA history.[1] In 2014–15, Curry won the NBA Most Valuable Player Award and led the Warriors to their first championship since 1975. The following season, he became the first player in NBA history to be elected MVP by a unanimous vote and to lead the league in scoring while shooting above 50–40–90. That same year, the Warriors broke the record for the most wins in an NBA season. Curry helped the Warriors return to the NBA Finals for a third straight year in 2017, winning his second NBA championship.

Curry is the son of former NBA player Dell Curry and older brother of current NBA player Seth Curry. He played college basketball for Davidson. There, he was twice named Southern Conference Player of the Year and set the all-time scoring record for both Davidson and the Southern Conference. During his sophomore year, he also set the single-season NCAA record for three-pointers made.

During the 2012–13 season, Curry set the NBA record for three-pointers made in a regular season with 272. He surpassed that record in 2015 with 286, and again in 2016 with 402. During the 2013–14 season, he and teammate Klay Thompson were nicknamed the "Splash Brothers" en route to setting the NBA record for combined three-pointers in a season with 484, a record they broke the following season (525) and again in the 2015–16 season (678)
