Tim Kaine Accept Democratic VP
Sen. Tim Kaine of Virginia accepted the Democratic vice presidential nomination Wednesday night, introducing himself to a national audience as well as liberal colleagues within his own party who are skeptical about his centrist record on economic issues.
The speech came on the third night of a Democratic convention that has moved steadily from a scene of raucous division to a display of party unity and enthusiasm for its presidential nominee Hillary Clinton. The senator, who sits on the Committees on Foreign Relations and Armed Services, spoke during an evening program spotlighting Mrs. Clinton¡¯s skills and experience as a world leader.
He brings to the podium a rich, largely unknown life story, a career path that carried him from working at a Jesuit missionary school and as a civil-rights lawyer to mayor of Richmond, governor of Virginia and now U.S. senator.
