뉴욕 일원에 16일 퇴근길에 최고 풍속 100마일(약 160km)이 넘는 토네이도가 몰아쳐 최소한 1명이 사망하고 수십 명의 사상자가 발생했다. 강풍과 번개를 동반한 이번 폭풍우는 한인타운인 플러싱과 베이사이드 등 퀸즈 지역과 브루클린, 스태튼 아일랜드 등지를 강타, 수십그루의 나무가 뿌리째 뽑히고 자동차와 집을 덮치는 등 많은 피해를 가져왔다.

Over 100 miles speed of Tornado hit in NY, killed oen and dozens of casualties occurred.
The tornado with high winds and lightning storms struck the areas in Flushing, Bayside Queens, Brooklyn, and Staten Island. Cars and houses were seriously damaged by uprooted trees in the area.
