지난 22일 뉴욕주 웨체스터 용커스(Yonkerts) 인근 도로에서 느닷없이 물기둥이 솟구쳐 이 일대 교통이 잠시 마비되는 소동이 있었다. 쏘밀 파크웨이(Saw Mill P'kwy) Exit 4가 만나는 그레이스 애버뉴 선상에서 소화전이 터지는 바람에 약 5m높이에 달하는 물기둥이 한시간 가까이 솟구쳤다. 이때문에 우드사이드 골프클럽으로 들어가는 도로가 한동안 폐쇄돼 고객들이 불편을 겪었다. 도로를 지나는 차량 운전자들은 느닷없는 물기둥에 눈을 휘둥그렇게 뜨면서도 잠시나마 더위를 식히는 모습이었다.

On 22nd, a sudden waterspout on streets in Yonkers paralyzed the transport.
A fire hydrant burst on Grace Avenue that meets with Saw Mill Parkway Exit 4, causing 14ft of waterspout all over the street, blocking the entrance way into the Woodside golf course.
