The elections have consequences and there are consequential elections have become the mantra of the people who watch politics and history. As the election night was mesmerizingly unfolded, it was clear that this election is the consequential one. This election spoke unmistakably, and loudly that the U.S. is moving toward 'a more perfect Union.' In fact, 21st century has really begun in the country.
With 2000 election, the U.S. had started the new century on the wrong foot, the accidental president brought a lot of accidents to the country. The first decade of the new century was painful to watch and bear. The only consolation, if we must find one, is that it was the last gasp of the clueless people in the U.S.

There are two major reasons among many why Democrats did well in this election cycle; demographics and the waning of provincialism. Some of the senate races were the clear indications the U.S. is moving beyond the provincialism.
Mr. Romney got about 60 percent of the white votes which should have been enough to win the election in the times past, but not enough this time. Some of the battle ground states were won by the President because of the shift in the demographics. The President Obama lost only one battleground state, North Carolina, and won the rest. The crowds at Chicago and Boston were the visuals of the reality.
Mr. Romney was graceful, connecting, and even likable at the concession speech. Where have you been Mitt?
President Obama has, now, a chance to become a great president in the league with Lincoln, and the Roosevelts as he always wanted. This is a great privilege he should appreciate and fulfill with passion, conviction, strength, and compassion.
As he realized after the first debate, the stake is not his alone; it belong to all the people who supported him with passion, conviction, and belief in 'a more prefect Union.' He's got the responsibility he wanted for a long time, and the wonderful allies who will help him all the way; the Clintons, Biden, Elizabeth Warren, and many many more.
The U.S. has just entered into the 21st century, and will lead the rest of the world into it.
