7/27 Washington DC Korea Peace Action
Hello. On Saturday, July 27, Korean American Peace Fund (KAPF) participated in the Korea Peace Rally and March in Washington, D.C. to commemorate the 71st anniversary of the Armistice Agreement.
About 100 Koreans and people of other ethnicities from Washington, D.C., New York, and New Jersey gathered in front of the White House and then marched to the Lincoln Memorial. The participants chanted slogans such as ¡°End the Korean War, Korea Peace Now,¡± ¡°For Peace in Korea, No More War Drills,¡± ¡°71 Years Today, End the Korean War Today,¡± ¡°Armistice to Peace, War in not the Answer,¡± and ¡°Not a Penny, Not a Nickel, We won¡¯t Pay for Your War No More,¡± raising awareness of the reality of the Korean War that has continued for 71 years and calling for a peace treaty and a declaration of the end of the war.
The event was supported by organizations such as Korea Peace Now (KPNGN), Korean American Peace Fund (KAPF), American Friends Service Committee (AFSC), Women Cross DMZ, Veterans for Peace, Code Pink, Mennonite Central Committee (MCC), and Baltimore Pungmul Band Hanpan. Every year on July 27, Korea Peace Rallies and Marches are held in Korea, Washington, D.C., and around the world.
