뉴욕 경찰국 경찰관들만큼이나 이 도시를 지탱하기 위해 힘든 직종을 가진 이들도 없을성 싶다.

뉴욕 도심 속의 바쁜 한 지하철을 주의 깊게 보면 역사안에서 작은 브론즈 조각상들을 이곳 저곳에서 발견하게 된다. 조각상을 찾아내는 즐거움도 있지만 그 안에는  의미가 담겨 있다.

경찰관이 승차요금을 안내고 몰래 타려는 이를 꾸짖는 작은 조각상의 모습들은 모쪼록 준법 정신을 지켜달라는 친절한 암시가 아닐까.

Friendly Reminder

It seems to me that officers of the New York Police Department have an incredibly difficult job making sure people follow the rules that make this city livable.

In one of the city's busy subway stations if you look carefully you will see many small bronze cartoon-like sculptures of characters doing a variety of things here-and-there.  These sculptuers are fun to discover, however, most of them have a message. 

In this case, a police officer has caught an unexpecting character trying to sneek into the subway without paying the fare...just a friendly reminder to follow the rules.
